Paediatric First Aid for Parents (6 hours)

This course is suitable for people wishing to join the Voluntary part of the Ofsted Childcare Register (OCR). It is suitable for Nannies, Au Pairs, Babysitters, Parents and anybody who cares for children and needs a basic course.

The OCR required syllabus includes:

  • First Aid Priorities
  • Dealing with an Emergency
  • Choking – Child and Baby
  • Resuscitation (CPR) – Child and Baby
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Bleeding and Shock
  • Burns & Scalds
  • Eye & Ear injuries
  • Fractures
  • Childhood illnesses including Meningitis and Febrile Convulsions

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment, there is no final examination. Those delegates who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are awarded a certificate that is valid for three years.
