Paediatric First Aid Course (12 hours)

This course is a requirement for all child minders, staff that work in day nurseries and other out of school settings and meets the requirementrs of the EYFS Statutory Framework. It will equip the candidate with the basic knowledge to care for babies and children in an emergency situation or when they become ill.

The course can be delivered in various formats to suit your organisational needs and can be delivered at the workplace, hence reducing costs in respect of additional time out and travelling. The course covers the key points recommended by OFSTED that all child practitioners should know.

As of 1st Sep 2008 this course is also a requirement for all schools that have children of 5 years or less (EYFS Statutory Framework).

  • Casualty Examination
  • Unconsciousness
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Fractures
  • Control of Bleeding & Shock
  • Asthma
  • Eye & Ear Injuries
  • Burns and Scalds
  • First Aid Kits
  • Childhood Illnesses including Meningitis & Febrile Convulsions
  • Regulations
  • Recording and Reporting

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the delegate, there is no final examination. Those delegates who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are awarded a certificate that is valid for three years.
